Cornish Local Knowledge
Cromwell’s Castle has been guarding the North West entrance channel to Tresco for over 350 years. Orginally built by the Parliamentarians when they invaded the Isles Of Scilly, the gun tower was well placed to protect the sea passage into New Grimsby Harbour. Now a well preserved ruin maintained by English Heritage, the fortification creates an iconic focal point to the vista of the channel.
