Quercus Suber Cork Oak Trunk
The name of the species suber has Ancient Greek origin and literally means a piece of wrinkled skin, which one look at the bark of this fantastic tree will illustrate why. The Quercus suber develops a strong and wide trunk, which at chest height reaches a diameter of up to 2 m and thanks to the thickness of the dermal system, the Cork Oaks are effectively protected from the natural fires of the Mediterranean forests.
